SoAR’s mission is to support health care professionals to establish and develop careers in health-related research and to nurture a strong research culture at University Hospital Southampton (UHS).

Our greatest impact comes from introducing research opportunities to colleagues across all health care professions. We provide tailored, individual guidance to help each person understand the pathways available to them.

We deliver this support in a focused and accessible way. We do this through one-to-one advice clinics, peer support groups, and a programme of networking and training events. These opportunities are actively used by colleagues locally and regionally, reflecting the relevance and value of our work.

The true measure of SoAR’s impact is seen in the achievements of the individuals we support. We report our engagement activity to UHS Research & Development (R&D). However, our success is best shown through the progress and accomplishments of our researchers, which you can see in the news items below.
